• In 1992, Fernando Portillo started Portillo and Sons in Dallas, Texas, after being laid off from his job as a cafeteria worker. With his savings, he purchased a 1987 Mack Tandem and began building his trucking business.
  • Two years later, his oldest son, Roger Portillo, joined him. Together, they worked hard to grow the company and purchased their second truck in 1994.
  • By 2000, the company had grown to 15 trucks and trailers. Over the years, more members of the family joined the business, helping build the company into what it is today.

  • In 2014, Fernando’s youngest son, Jesse Portillo, joined the company as a partner. Jesse brought private-sector experience, 10 years of military service, and a Bachelor’s degree from SMU.
  • That same year, Jose Salvador Portillo joined the team with more than 15 years of experience in finance and sales. He currently serves as Field Operations Manager and Outside Sales.
  • In 2017, Benjamin Portillo joined Portillo and Sons after serving in the U.S. Army during Operation Inherent Resolve. He brought his military experience to the company and is currently training in dispatch operations.
  • Fernando Amaya Jr. recently joined Portillo and Sons with a background in factoring. He now oversees fuel distribution and state inspection services.
  • Our Office Manager, Vickie Portillo, helps support the company’s daily administrative operations.
  • Continuing the Legacy
  • Fernando Portillo built Portillo and Sons on three important values: safety, reliability, and community. Although he passed away in 2014, those values continue to guide the company today.

  • Portillo and Sons has grown from one truck into a company with more than 50 units and over 100 subcontractors serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
  • Our services include sludge hauling, dirt hauling, aggregate hauling, petroleum services, fuel distribution, and state inspection services.
  • We employ approximately 50 employees and support staff, including veterans and minorities.
